Traveling With Kevin McCallister from “Home Alone 2”

For many of us, Christmas holidays are associated with Kevin McCallister and his family from “Home Alone”. Today we are going to find out which famous places in New York City were shown in the second part of this movie and see whether what was screened remains the same these days.

The Plaza Hotel

The Plaza Hotel is a big star of this movie. Not only due to its fancy look but also to the scene where Kevin met the former American President — Donald Trump.
Though we must reveal one secret. The last scene when the family got reunited and spent a night in a suite was actually filmed in one of the Hilton Hotels in Chicago, not even in NYC.

LaGuardia Airport

From the movie episode, it seemed like the window from the airport leads straight to Manhattan. In fact, you can’t even see the skyline of the city from any of its airports. So, some scenes had to be made up for the storyline.

The Queensboro Bridge

A yellow cab driving on the bridge is a common picture in many American movies. Well, it does look exciting provided the lack of traffic and the beautiful winter season.

Central Park

One of the most popular iconic spots of New York City is, no doubt, Central Park. In the movie, it wasn’t really presented as a beautiful place to chill on a day off or during the lunch break as many Americans do. The pigeon lady whose presence was crucial in Kevin’s life made the park look more like a dangerous and gloomy place. We wouldn’t insist on changing your opinion by taking a late-night walk there. However, if you ever happen to visit New York City, don’t pass Central Park by. It’s worth seeing.

Rockefeller Plaza

One of the final scenes when Kevin came to Rockefeller Plaza to see the most beautiful Christmas tree in NYC was probably filmed very late at night. In fact, during the Christmas holiday, it is a challenge to capture the spot without lots of visitors.
