Математическая загадка на английском языке

Воля Волчанов
The product of two numbers is 30 and the average 6. What are these numbers?
Artyom Markevich
AxB=30
(A+B)/2=6

Hmm.. Are these natural numebrs?
Воля Волчанов
I'm not sure whether 'average' supposes (a+b)/2 other wise I can't find any solution to this task.
So I ask, may be there's any other way of interpretation this word in maths.
Andrey Kutuzov
a*b=30
(a+b)/2=6

so system:
a*b=30
a+b=12

a=30/b
b=12-a

a=30/(12-a)
12a-a^2=30
a^2-12a+30=0

D1= 36- 30=6
a1= 6-sqrt(6)
a2= 6+sqrt(6)

b1= 6+sqrt(6)
b2=6-sqrt(6)

so we can see this numbers:
[6-sqrt(6)] and [6+sqrt(6)]

you can also test it:

[6-sqrt(6)] * [6+sqrt(6)]=6^2 - (sqrt(6))^2 = 36-6=30
[6-sqrt(6)] + [6+sqrt(6)] = 12

But what about other way of interpretation- I don't know(((

Are you sure u've written the task without any mistakes?
Воля Волчанов
you see there's already an answer above.

Помогите перевести следующее: "term-to-term rules" и "position-to-term rules" . По всей видимости речь об арифметических прогрессиях, но как дословно перевести не ясно. Заранее благодарна.
